(5139) Rumoi is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 13 November 1990 by the Japanese astronomer Masaru Mukai and Masanori Takeishi at the observatory in Kagoshima ( IAU code 364) on the island of Kyushu was discovered.
The asteroid is a member of the Koronis family, a group of asteroids named after (158) Koronis.
(5139) Rumoi was named after the city of Rumoi in the north of the island of Hokkaidō in the Rumoi sub-prefecture .
