Masaru Mukai ( Japanese 向 井 優 , Mukai Masaru ; * 1949 in Yoshino, Kagoshima ) is a Japanese amateur astronomer . Masaru had a younger brother named Haruo ( 向 井 春 男 ; 1949–1986).
Between 1988 and 1993 he discovered a total of 13 asteroids together with Masanori Takeishi .
