Takikawa ( Japanese 滝 川 市 , - shi ) is a city in the Sorachi sub-prefecture on the island of Hokkaidō ( Japan ).

Takikawa is located southwest of Asahikawa and northeast of Sapporo .
history

Operated by JR Hokkaido , Takikawa Station is on the main Hakodate line from Sapporo to Asahikawa , the island's main railway line. Here the Nemuro main line branches off in the direction of Furano and Nemuro .
