Miki Fujimoto ( Japanese 藤 本 美 貴 , Fujimoto Miki; married: Miki Shōji 庄 司 美 貴 , Shōji Miki ; born February 26, 1985 in Hokkaidō , Japan ) is a Japanese singer . She became known as a soloist under the Hello! Project and as a member of the girl group Morning Musume .
biography
Fujimoto attended the casting for 4th Generation Morning Musumes in 2000 but was not selected for the group. She was offered training for a possible career if, in return, she would take a job at Hello! Project suppose. The following year, Fujimoto worked as a receptionist in the company's building until she debuted as a soloist in 2002. During her time as a soloist, she also became part of some subgroups, such as Gomattou.
After several singles and an album, producer Tsunku announced that Fujimoto Morning Musume would join the 6th generation, where she soon became one of the main singers due to her experience as a singer. After Hitomi Yoshizawa left the group in May 2007, Fujimoto was named leader. In the same month, however, it was revealed in the tabloid Friday that she was having an affair with comedian Tomoharu Shōji. Two days later, she confirmed the allegations. As is customary with idol groups, the rule at Morning Musume is that the girls are not allowed to have romantic relationships. Due to her offense, Fujimoto resigned as a leader on June 1, 2007 and left the group. She then took a break of six months until she returned as a soloist with the single "Okitegami".
In the following years she played in plays and commercials and opened a restaurant chain. She also published some books. In 2009 she married Tomoharu Shōji. She and her husband have a son, Toranosuke, who was born in March 2012. In January 2015, Fujimoto announced her second pregnancy on her blog.
