Takikawa is a separation station on the Hakodate main line between Sapporo and Asahikawa , Hokkaidō's most important railway line. From this the Nemuro main line branches off in the direction of Nemuro . Both lines are operated by the JR Hokkaido company. About two kilometers to the southwest is the former Shin-Totsukawa station , which will be the northern terminus of the Sasshō line until 2020 .

On the Hakodate main line, the Super Kamui express train, which runs every 30 or 60 minutes, provides the fastest connection with Sapporo and Asahikawa. This offer is supplemented by the Super Sōya and Sarobetsu express trains from Sapporo to Wakkanai and the Ochotsk express train from Sapporo to Abashiri . There are also regional trains to Iwamizawa and Asahikawa, with Takikawa being the terminus in most cases. On the main Nemuro line, regional trains run to Furano or Shintoku every one to two hours ; on certain days in summer the “Lavender Express” runs from Sapporo via Takikawa to Furano.

There is a bus terminal diagonally across from the train station , which is served by various city, regional and long-distance bus routes operated by the Hokkaidō Chūō Bus company.

investment

The station has 16 tracks, most of which are used as parking facilities. Five tracks are used for passenger traffic, they are located on the house platform and on two central platforms . An overpass connects the reception building on the east side of the facility with the central platforms and the western parts of the city, whereby the part leading over the parking facility is not covered.

South of the passenger station is a small freight station that is used for loading and unloading containers .

history

In 1891 the mining and railway company Hokkaidō Tankō Tetsudō opened a section of line from Iwamizawa to near Takikawa, but renounced the construction of a bridge over the Sorachi, so that the Hakodate main line initially ended before the southern city limits. A few years later, the state Hokkaidō Kansetsu Tetsudō carried out the construction , which on July 16, 1898 put the missing section to Asahikawa together with the Takikawa station into operation. In 1912 the station was moved about 200 meters north to its current location. The Railway Authority (later the Ministry of Railways ) opened the westernmost section of the Nemuro main line to Furano on November 10, 1913 , making Takikawa an important traffic junction.

The Japanese State Railways expanded the Hakodate main line in stages to double track: Coming from the south, it extended to Takikawa in 1956. Five years later, another four kilometers from Takisawa to the temporary were Ausweiche Fukasawa double-railed. On August 28, 1968, the state railway electrified the Otaru –Sapporo – Takikawa section, and on October 1, 1969, the Takikawa – Asahikawa section. For reasons of profitability, it stopped checking in luggage on November 1, 1986, and as part of the privatization process, the station became the property of the new company JR Hokkaido on April 1, 1987 .
