Barrhead is a small town in Alberta , Canada that makes a living mainly from agriculture and ranching. Wood production and Pollard Banknote Ltd , one of the largest manufacturers of scratch cards and lottery supplies, are also more important industries .

The city is named after the Scottish town of Barrhead , the birthplace of an early settler, James McGuire. It is located about 120 km north of the provincial capital Edmonton , on the Paddle River. Thunder Lake Provincial Park is 10 miles away .

Demographics
