Kitami observatory

The Kitami Observatory ( Japanese 北 見 天文台 , Kitami temmondai , Eng. Kitami Observatory ; observatory code 400) is an observatory in Kitami , Okhotsk sub-prefecture in Hokkaidō , Japan . It is part of the cultural center for the Kitami-Abashiri region ( 北 網 圏 北 見 文化 セ ン タ ー , Hokumōken Kitami bunka sentā , "Northern Abashiri Kitami Cultural Center ", English Kitami Region Museum of Science, History and Art ), which is also the only planetarium houses in eastern Hokkaidō.

The amateur astronomers Atsushi Takahashi and Kazurō Watanabe discovered a large number of asteroids from here.
