Atsushi Takahashi

Atsushi Takahashi ( Japanese 高橋 篤 志 , Takahashi Atsushi ; * 1965 ) is a Japanese amateur astronomer and asteroid explorer .

He lives in Kitami on the island of Hokkaidō and observes asteroids and comets as a member of the Hokkaidō Suisei Shōwakusei Kaigi ( 北海道 彗星 ・ 小 惑星 会議 , "Conference for Comets and Asteroids Hokkaidō") at the Kitami Temmondai ( English Hokkaido Kitami Observatory ; IAU code 400 ). Together with his colleague Kazuo Watanabe , he discovered a total of 22 asteroids between 1989 and 1991.

The asteroid (4842) Atsushi was named after him at the suggestion of his colleague Kazuo Watanabe.
