Satsuki Fujisawa ( Japanese 藤澤 五月 , Fujisawa Satsuki ; born May 24, 1991 in Kitami ) is a Japanese curler . She plays as Skip.
Career
Fujisawa began her international career at the 2008 Junior Pacific Championship with a final victory over China. As the winner, she and her team were able to take part in the 2008 Junior World Championship , but only finished seventh there. In 2009 she defended her title at the Junior Pacific Championship against the Chinese team led by Liu Jinli . At the following Junior World Championships in 2009 , she came in last place with the Japanese team she was leading as Skip.
In 2011 she played for Japan for the first time at the Pacific Asia Cup . She lost in the game in third place to the team from Australia. She won the silver medal at the 2012 Pacific Asian Cup after being beaten 4:10 by Wang Bingyu's Chinese team in the final . In 2015 she joined Mari Motohashi's team as skip . With this team she won the gold medal at the 2015 Pacific Asian Cup . In the final, the South Korean team defeated Kim Ji-sun . The following year she only came in third after losing to Wang Bingyu's team in the semifinals, but beating New Zealand in the game for third place. At the Pacific Asia Cup 2017 she was able to move into the final again, but lost against the Korean team around Kim Eun-jung . With the silver medal, she secured Japan's participation in the 2018 World Cup , in which, however, not her team, but that of Tori Koana . She was also able to win the silver medal at the 2018 Pacific Asian Cup after losing the final against South Korea with Skip Kim Min-ji . Japan qualified again for the next World Cup.
At the World Curling Championship she played for the first time in 2013 and finished in seventh place. After winning the 2015 Pacific Asian Cup, she played for Japan in the 2016 World Cup . She finished the Round Robin with nine wins and two losses, but lost in the page playoff game of the 1st against the 2nd against the Swiss team of Binia Feltscher . In the semifinals, however, she was able to win against Anna Sidorova's Russian team and still make it into the final. There she was defeated by Binia Feltscher 6: 9. She could not qualify for the 2017 World Cup because she had not reached the final of the 2016 Pacific Asia Cup.
Fujisawa and her team (third: Chinami Yoshida , second: Yūmi Suzuki , lead: Yurika Yoshida , replacement: Mari Motohashi ) won the Japanese selection competition for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games and represented Japan in Pyeongchang . After the round robin , she and her team were in fourth place and advanced to the final round. In the semifinals she had to admit defeat to South Korea with Skip Kim Eun-jung . In the game for third place, however, she was able to beat Great Britain with Skip Eve Muirhead 5: 3 and win the bronze medal. It was the first Olympic medal in curling for Japan.
Fujisawa plays on the World Curling Tour and was able to win the following tournaments there: Shamrock Shotgun (2012), Hokkaido Bank Curling Classic (2017).
