World Curling Tour

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The World Curling Tour (WCT) is a series of high-class international curling tournaments introduced in 1992 . Most of the competitions on the tour take place in Canada . The WCT curling season usually starts in September and ends in April of the following year.

There is no official overall victory or a tour final, only a list of the prize money collected by the registered teams is kept. Tournaments, registered teams and the money list are separated into women's and men's teams.

The formats of the individual competitions are very different, for example the number of participating teams and the mode by which the winner of the tournament is determined. The start and prize money and the selection of the teams is also determined by the organizer of the competition.

Usually a single competition lasts three to four days and ends on a Sunday or Monday. The regular length of the individual games is usually 8 ends instead of  10 ends , as is the case with the World Curling Championships , if only because of the large number of games to be played each day of the competition.
