Ajene Malaki Moye (born February 7, 1982 in Los Angeles , California ) is a former American basketball player who played as a professional in addition to stations in Iceland and Finland , especially in the German basketball league . Better known by his nickname AJ as AJ Moye , he was back in the BBL in the 2010-11 season and suffered a stroke while training in November 2010. He has not played basketball professionally since then.
During his studies at Indiana University in Bloomington from 2000 to 2004 , Moye was active for the traditional university team Hoosiers in the Big Ten Conference of NCAA Division I. In his second year as a sophomore , the Hoosiers reached the final of the NCAA championship and won among others against the top-seeded Blue Devils of Duke University , where Moye a shot block when dunking try the larger Carlos Boozer was possible later NBA All-Star . The NCAA final was then lost to the Terrapins of the University of Maryland .
As a professional, Moye was meanwhile active in Keflavík on Iceland and was named player of the year in the 2006 league there by the champions of 2005, before he then moved to the German BBL to the Tigers from Tübingen . In his first year for the Tigers, he scored 15.4 points per game. In the following two seasons, the role of the guard , who is relatively heavy for his size with over two hundred pounds and is sometimes used as a small forward , changed, and with reduced playing time he scored significantly less and finally no longer in double digits. From 2009 to 2010 he played one season in Kouvola, Finland , where he was again the go-to-guy of his team with 18.6 points per game.
For the 2010/11 season, Frankfurt coach Gordon Herbert Moye , who had previously also been active in Finland, brought him back to the BBL for the German runner-up and runner-up cup winner Skyliners from Frankfurt . On November 15, 2010, Moye suffered a stroke after colliding with a teammate in training and had to be rushed to a hospital emergency room the next day. Then Moye was able to recover almost completely, but did not return to the field, but made a coaching license in 2011.
