Juana Azurduy de Padilla (short: Azurduy ) is a province in the central-western part of the Chuquisaca department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

The province bears its name in honor of Juana Azurduy de Padilla (1781–1862), who fought against Spain in the Bolivian War of Independence together with her husband, Manuel Asencio Padilla (1773–1816) .

location

The province is one of ten provinces in the Chuquisaca department. It is bordered to the northwest by the Potosí department , to the west and south by the province of Nor Cinti , to the east by the province of Hernando Siles , and to the northeast by the province of Tomina .

The province extends approximately between 19 ° 33 'and 20 ° 28' south latitude and 64 ° 17 'and 64 ° 47' west longitude, its extent from west to east is 30 kilometers, from north to south 100 kilometers.
