Capactala (also Capactila , Capajtala or Mariscal Braun ) is a town in the Chuquisaca department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

location

Capactala is the central location of the canton of Mariscal Braun in the municipality of Tarvita in the province of Azurduy . The village is located at an altitude of 2370  m on the left, eastern bank of the San Antonio, which flows into the Río Pilcomayo six kilometers west of Capactala .

Capactala is located between the Altiplano in the west and the lowlands in the east in one of the north-south side valleys of the Bolivian Cordillera Central .

The climate of the region is a distinct daytime climate , in which the temperature differences between day and night fluctuate more clearly than the average values ​​between summer and winter. The annual average temperature is 14 ° C (see Azurduy climate diagram), the monthly values ​​fluctuate between 10 ° C in June / July and 16 ° C in December / January. Annual precipitation is just under 550 mm, with a dry season and monthly values ​​below 10 mm from May to August, and maximum values ​​of 100 to 110 mm from December to February.

Transport network

Capactala is located at a distance of 224 kilometers by road southeast of Sucre , the capital of Bolivia and the department.

From Sucre the 976 kilometer long highway Ruta 6 leads east , which connects Sucre with the Bolivian lowlands and the metropolis Santa Cruz there , and reaches the city of Tarabuco after 67 kilometers. From Tarabuco a high road then leads south to the village of Icla and on via Chahuarani , Jatun Mayu and Pampas de Leque to Capactala and on to Tarvita .
