Jatun Mayu is a town in the Chuquisaca department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia . The name means "great river" in Quechua .

location

Jatun Mayu is the second largest town in the Municipio Icla in the Jaime Zudáñez Province . The village is located at an altitude of 2908  m on the right, northern bank of the Río Jatun Mayu , which flows into the Río Icla , a tributary of the Río Pilcomayo .

Jatun Mayu lies between the Altiplano and the Bolivian lowlands in the ridge of the Bolivian Cordillera Central . The climate is a cool, moderate mountain climate with a typical time of day climate , in which the temperature differences fluctuate more strongly during the day than during the year.
