Pierre de Faucigny

Pierre de Faucigny († March 28, 1342 ) was Bishop of Geneva from 1311 to 1342 .

Life

Pierre de Faucigny was provost in Geneva from 1309 to 1311 , followed by his brother Jacques Métral. Between October 26 and 29, 1311, he was elected Bishop of Geneva by the cathedral chapter . From 1320 to 1328 he resided in exile. The city of Geneva, which he occupied with the interdict from 1320 to 1329 , strived for increasing autonomy and was supported by Count Edward of Savoy .

He died on March 28, 1342 and was buried in the cloister of St. Peter's Cathedral.
