Alamand de Saint-Jeoire
Alamand de Saint-Jeoire († January 21 or April 2, 1366 ) was bishop of Geneva from 1342 to 1366 .
Life
Alamand came from a noble family from Saint-Jeoire ( belonging to the former Savoy ) in Faucigny , who provided several canons in Geneva and Lausanne. He was elected canon in Geneva in 1323 and in 1342 by the cathedral chapter as bishop of Geneva. Alamand had to exercise his rights as lord of the city of Geneva and imperial prince against Amadeus VI. of Savoy, who had acquired Gex and the Faucigny in 1355 and was appointed Vicar General of Geneva in 1365 by Emperor Charles IV . During his tenure, the construction of a new city wall began, which also included the new districts on the lake and the Rhône.
