Aymon de Quart

Aymon de Quart († October 13, 1311 in Ivrea ) was bishop of Geneva from 1304 to 1311 .

Life

Aymon came from a noble family from the Aosta Valley . He was the son of Jacques, Seigneur de Quart, his brother Emeric was Bishop of Aosta from 1301 to 1313 . He was a canon in Lyon , and from 1286 to 1303 provost in Lausanne . He was elected Bishop of Sitten in 1287 , but did not accept the office. From 1292 he was in the service of King Edward I of England , was canon in Saint-Jean de Beverley in 1292 and provost there in 1295. The cathedral chapter of Geneva elected him bishop in 1304. Due to a civil uprising, he had to leave Geneva between 1307 and 1309. On February 28, 1309 he granted the city the right to establish a commune and the election of the Syndici . As secretary and councilor, he accompanied Henry VII on his Italian expedition in October 1310. He died on October 13, 1311 in Ivrea.
