The Diocese of Aosta ( Latin Dioecesis Augustana , Italian Diocesi di Aosta , French Diocèse d'Aoste ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Italy with its seat in Aosta .
It has been around for at least the 5th century. Today it is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Turin .
In 1803 , after the second coalition war , it was dissolved by the French occupiers and incorporated into the diocese of Ivrea . In 1817 it was restored by Pope Pius VII and placed under the Archdiocese of Chambéry as a suffragan seat. It remained in the ecclesiastical province of Chambéry until 1862 and has belonged to Turin ever since.
