Otmar Stock

Otmar Stock (born August 19, 1935 ) is a German table tennis player . He took part in a European and a world championship.

Career

Stock initially played soccer at VfB Friedberg, but then preferred the table tennis department. When this dissolved in 1949, he moved to TG Friedberg. With his men's team he played at times in the Oberliga Südwest, the top German division at the time.

1959 Stock was nominated for the individual competitions of the world championship. Here he lost in the first round against Alberto Kurdoglian Betinho (Brazil). In the subsequent consolation round he reached the round of 16. In doubles with the Belgian Pierre Juliens , he was eliminated against Tiberiu Kovaci / Adalbert Rethi (Romania). The mixed with Annemie Mann was defeated by the Japanese couple Seiji Narita / Kazuko Yamaizumi .

Stock also took part in the individual competitions at the European Championships in Berlin in 1962 . Here he won the singles against Bert Onnes (Netherlands) and was eliminated in the second round against the Swede Tony Larsson. The doubles with Klaus Maier got into the second round by bye, where it failed to Bert Onnes / Frans Schoofs (Netherlands). In mixed with Rosemarie Gomolla , he survived the first round against Antonio Osorio / Marilla Santamarina (Portugal), but then lost to the Germans Ernst Gomolla / Ilse Lantermann .

At the international German championships in 1962 he came in doubles with the Yugoslav Hrbut in the semi-finals. A year later he reached the double final at the German National Championships together with Wolf Berger .

In the German ranking, Stock was temporarily in 10th place.

In the late 1980s, he achieved some top placements in senior national tournaments. When the table tennis department of TG Friedberg dissolved in 1999, he moved to TTC Ockstadt, where he still works on the board today.

Private

Stock worked in the Friedberg city administration. He married in 1966. The marriage resulted in a son and a daughter.
