Bert Onnes
Bert Onnes (born July 31, 1938 in Amsterdam - † November 10, 2018 ) was a Dutch table tennis player and trainer. In the 1950s and 1960s he won 24 titles at the Dutch championships , four times he took part in world championships .
Career
Bert Onnes initially joined the Sparta Amsterdam association, which later merged with the AMVJ association and was finally integrated into the Blauw Wit Amsterdam . With Sparta he won the Dutch team championship. At the national Dutch championships he was seven times champion in individual. He won a total of 24 titles:
- 7 times singles: 1956, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1965
- 8 times doubles: 1956 (with Wim Stoop), 1957 (with Henny Grijzenhout), 1959, 1960, 1962 and 1963 (with Frans Schoofs ), 1964 and 1965 (with Mauri Colthof)
- 9 times mixed: 1956, 1957, 1958 (with Nora van Megen), 1959, 1960 (with Agnes Simon ), 1961, 1962 (with Nellie Visscher), 1964 (with Aukje Wynia), 1965 (with Annemarie Wijnants)
In 1960 he won together with Agnes Simon in Berlin at the International German Championships in the mixed competition.
From 1955 to 1967 Bert Onnes was nominated for four world championships (1955, 1959, 1963, 1967), but where he never came close to medal ranks.
During his active career he also worked as a trainer, especially in the youth field.
In 1968 Bert Onnes ended his career as a competitive athlete because of an arm injury. He opened a table tennis school in Amsterdam.
