Frans Schoofs
Frans Schoofs (born March 22, 1939 in Amsterdam , † April 16, 2004 in Amstelveen ) was a Dutch table tennis player and trainer. He was the Dutch singles champion in 1958 and 1964 and played 158 times for the Dutch national team. In 1970 Schoofs became an honorary member of the Dutch table tennis association NTTB.
Career
Schoofs not only won national titles in singles. He was also Dutch champion in doubles in 1959, 1960, 1962, 1963 (all with Bert Onnes ) and 1967 (with Ed Berg ). In mixed he won in 1963 (with Ursula Artz ) and 1971 (with Ellen Klatt ), both two-time winners of the national championship in singles. Schoofs played for the clubs Nedlloyd, TTV Tempo-Team, Maccabi and Delta Lloyd (all Amsterdam).
From 1957 to 1971 Frans Schoofs was nominated for seven world championships , but where he never came close to medal ranks.
In 1973 Frans Schoofs ended his career as a competitive athlete.
After his active career, Schoofs coached the Dutch women's national team for several years. Here he made his debut at the European Championships in 1976 .
Private
Schoofs ran a sports shop in Amsterdam. He was married and had two children. His younger brother Bert was also an international.
