Bert Schoofs

Bert Schoofs (born October 18, 1945 , † October 19, 1993 ) was a Dutch table tennis player and trainer. In the 1960s and 1970s he was one of the top players in the Netherlands. He participated in five world championships .

Career

Bert Schoofs has been appointed to the Dutch national team more than 100 times. He played with the club Delta Lloyd Amsterdam in the top Dutch league. In 1970 he became national champion in singles, plus four wins in doubles with Carel Deken and four wins in mixed with Sonja Heltzel. He twice won the national ranking tournament "Top10". From 1963 to 1973 he was nominated for five world championships , but where he never came close to medal ranks.

In 1976 Bert Schoofs was hired by the Dutch Table Tennis Federation as national coach.

In 1993 Bert Schoofs died of the consequences of lung cancer. He was buried in De Rijp .

Private

Bert Schoofs was married and had two daughters. His older brother Frans was also a national player.
