Bayersried is a district of the municipality of Ursberg in the district of Günzburg in Bavaria with approx. 600 inhabitants.

location

The church village is about a kilometer south of Ursberg on the Kleine Mindel and on the GZ 12 district road . Bayersried has been structurally connected to the neighboring village of Ursberg since around the 1950s.

history

The place originally laid out as a cluster village was incorporated into the Ursberg monastery as early as 1139 . The place name Bayersried can be traced back to the clearing settlement of a Baiern . Festlehlein Castle once stood on the foothills of the Ochsenberg to the south .

On November 1, 1905, the previously independent communities Bayersried and Ursberg were merged to form a new community Bayersried-Ursberg. This was enlarged by another municipality in the 1970s as part of the municipal reform and finally renamed Ursberg on October 3, 1978 .
