Hairenbuch is a small village in the municipality of Waltenhausen in the Swabian district of Günzburg .
location
The village is located about two kilometers west of Waltenhausen in the Valley of Gutnach to that of Deisenhausen over Ebershausen and Waltenhausen after Haupeltshofen leading county road GZ 13 .
history
The area around Hairenbuch was settled very early. Evidence of this settlement are on the one hand several prehistoric burial mounds in the forest north of the village and on the other hand a square hill from the Celtic era .
It is not known exactly when the present place was founded. It is relatively certain, however, that Hairenbuch, like the castle complex, which is about 500 meters northwest of the town on the edge of the Gutnachtal, belonged to the Lords of Hairenbuch. In 1117 this castle, which must have been very close to the Celtic Viereckschanze, was destroyed in an earthquake. The village later became the property of the Wernau family . Around 1540 they sold the area to the Fugger von Babenhausen . Around 1805 the place became Bavarian. On May 1, 1978, the previously independent community of Hairenbuch came to the community of Waltenhausen as part of the regional reform .
