The Gutnach is an approximately 12.5 km long right tributary of the Haselbach . Thus it is an indirect right tributary of the Günz and consequently also an indirect right tributary of the Danube in Bavaria , Germany .

The Gutnach arises from the confluence of the Vorderen and Hinteren Gutnach immediately north of the bridges of the MN 8 district road over the two source streams about half a kilometer east of the village of Märxle ( Oberschönegg municipality , Unterallgäu district ). From there it flows in a relatively narrow valley in a northerly direction to the confluence with the Haselbach, northeast of Ebershausen . South of Hairenbuch , the Gutnach flows over the district border into the district of Günzburg .

Spring streams
Front Gutnach
The Vordere Gutnach, the eastern source stream of the Gutnach, rises north of St. Johann (municipality of Kammlach ) at 632 m above sea level. NHN ( 48 ° 4 '35 " N , 10 ° 22' 32" E ). First the stream flows in a northerly direction, then northeast and after a length of 5.4 km it reaches 591 m above sea level. NHN , where it merges with the Hinteren Gutnach near Märxle and forms the Gutnach. The difference in height between the source and the confluence is 41 meters. The Vordere Gutnach has the same river code as the Gutnach: 115842.
Rear Gutnach
The Hintere Gutnach is the western source stream of the Gutnach. It rises northeast of Arlesried (Markt Erkheim ) at an altitude of 636 m above sea level. NHN ( 48 ° 4 ′ 56 ″ N , 10 ° 21 ′ 22 ″ E ; difference in altitude between source and mouth: 45 m). The stream flowing in a northerly direction joins the Vordere Gutnach after 3.1 km.
Others
In the middle of the 20th century it was found that in the area bounded by the Vordere Gutnach in the west and the county road MN 8 in the north, there is a crude oil deposit at a depth of 1500 m. During the production of oil from 1964 to 1995, natural gas was also discovered, which was then also extracted.
