Duncan Matthew James Inglis (born April 7, 1978 in Salisbury , Wiltshire , England ) is a British singer who became known as a member of the band Blue .

childhood

Duncan grew up in Dorset , England . He spent most of his childhood with his grandparents. His father, Simon Roscoe, separated from his mother before Duncan's birth. He then lived with his new wife in Germany for a while and had two children with her. Duncan's career began with A Midsummer Night's Dream when he was 15 years old, playing the role of "Puck" in school theater. He also played there Dr. Watson in Sherlock Holmes . His mother Fiona Inglis wrote a biography in 2004 about her life and Duncan's childhood up to his career with Blue . The book is called "Just the Two of Us" and is currently only available in English stores.

Blue

Antony Costa and Duncan James had always known each other. Both met Lee Ryan at a casting . They suspected he would be selected, which turned out to be a mistake. None of the three men was immediately accepted into the band. Duncan and Antony then decided to start a band themselves. Lee should also join the cast, which he told his roommate Simon Webbe . Simon had just given up his dream of becoming a professional footballer due to a knee injury. Antony and Duncan found a manager who signed them on February 28, 2001.

Blues, R&B and pop enabled the group to achieve commercial success in England and many other countries, including Italy , Australia , Germany , New Zealand and Switzerland . From May 2001, when the group released their first single, "All Rise," until 2004, when they released their last hit parade single, "Curtain Falls," Blue had eleven top 10 singles in England.

Solo career

In October 2004 Duncan worked with Keedie and released the single "I Believe My Heart", which reached second place in the UK charts. His first song as a solo artist is called "Sooner or Later" and was released on June 2, 2006, followed by "Future Past" on June 30, 2006, his first solo album . Duncan's second single is called "Can't Stop a River".

Duncan has occasionally worked as a television presenter, presenting Party in the Park in London in 2003 and 2004 and hosting several other small shows in England. He also made himself available as a model for a Burton campaign .

In February 2007, Duncan James wrote to his fans on his homepage that he was withdrawing from the music business. For a long time he had been more drawn to acting than singing. Now he's trying to be more successful as an actor. In 2007 he took part in the second season of Dancing on Ice .

Duncan appeared in London in the musical Legally Blonde , based on the novel Naturally Blonde and the film of the same name . He plays Warner, the friend or ex-boyfriend of the main character Elle, who breaks up with her at the beginning of the story. Elle then desperately tries to win him back. According to his own statements during a television interview on British television, he will be seen in this role until his contract expires in June 2010. Since the beginning of 2016 he can be seen in the soap opera Hollyoaks in the role of policeman Ryan Knight.

Private life

His first child was born on February 26, 2005 and he is separated from its mother. James told News of the World that he does not pay attention to their gender when choosing his sexual partners. “I'm bisexual,” said the Catholic-raised singer of the boy band Blue. “I've been in relationships with both men and women, and I'm not ashamed of it. Even if I like men, I still like women. ”Since 2012 he has been open to his homosexuality.

He filed for personal bankruptcy on September 12, 2013.
