Winzerwald area free of municipalities
The Winzerwald is a 1.16 km² community-free area in the Swabian district of Günzburg .
The community-free area, a state forest , is part of a larger forest area between Winzer and Mindelzell . The area is located on the Riedel plateau between the Mindel and Haselbach valleys . In the south-east, the slope that slopes steeply down to the Mindeltal also belongs to the community-free area. The community-free area is bordered by the community of Ursberg in the north and east, the community of Aletshausen in the south and west and the town of Krumbach (Swabia) in the north-west .
The area of the slope that descends steeply to the Mindeltal has been a natural forest reserve since 1978, as it is a species-rich, natural slope forest. The largest part of this 21.9 hectare natural forest reserve called Halde is also part of the FFH area Mindelhang between Winzer and Mindelzell .
