Waldstetten is a market in the Swabian district of Günzburg and a member of the Ichenhausen administrative association .

Waldstetten is located in the Donau-Iller region on the Günz .
The municipality has four officially named municipal parts (the type of place is given in brackets ):
- Brandfeld ( hamlet )
- Heubelsburg (hamlet)
- Waldstetten ( parish village )
- Wiblishauserhof (also called Belzingerhof) ( wasteland )
history
The first documentary mention took place around 1120 as "Walestat" ("home of the Romanes "). Waldstetten was raised to the market in 1417. The market was Obervogtamt der Kommende Rohr and Waldstetten of the Teutonic Order - Ballei Alsace-Burgundy , whose seat was Waldstetten. With Article 17 of the Rhine Federation Act 1806, the place came to the Kingdom of Bavaria .

The municipal council of Waldstetten consists of twelve elected citizens and, qua office, the separately elected First Mayor. The election on March 15, 2020 resulted in the following composition:
- BBW (Waldstetten Civic Alliance): 6 seats (45.6% of the votes)
- FW ( Free Voters Waldstetten): 4 seats (37.2% of the votes)
- CSU ( Christian Social Union in Bavaria ): 2 seats (17.2% share of the vote)
The turnout was 63.2%.
In the 2014 to 2020 term of office, the municipal council was composed as follows:
- BBW (Civic Alliance Waldstetten): 5 seats
- CSU ( Christian Social Union in Bavaria ): 4 seats
- FW ( Free Voters Waldstetten): 3 seats
The turnout was 75.3%.
Michael Kusch has been mayor since May 1, 2014 (CSU, 2014: Waldstetten Civic Alliance). He was elected in the 2014 local elections with 60.4% of the valid votes and was confirmed in office on March 15, 2020 with 87.5% of the votes.
Economy and Infrastructure
