The Kingdom of Bavaria was divided into 15 districts in 1808, which were named after rivers based on the French model ( Naabkreis , Regenkreis , Unterdonaukreis , etc.). The districts were divided into district courts, which should be divided into individual municipal areas. After an initial proposal, the municipality of Bernhof was created, which, according to the list of municipalities in the Vohenstrauß district of 1821, was composed of Bernhof (16 families), Kohlmühle (1 family) and Oberpierlhof (4 families).

The parish division did not last long. As early as 1830, the regional authorities were reorganized and reorganized. Boxmühle , Heilinghäusl and Zieglhäuser came to the community of Bernhof . The cabbage mill was incorporated into the municipality of Gleiritsch.

After the end of World War II , the American military government wanted to carry out a partial reorganization of the municipalities. She ordered the dissolution of smaller communities, including Bernhof. In 1946 the Bernhof community was dissolved. Bernhof, Boxmühle, Heilinghäusl and Zieglhäuser were incorporated into the existing community of Gleiritsch , while Oberpierlhof became part of the Trausnitz community .

Chapels

In 1951 the first village chapel was built (opposite today's chapel). The building was always damp, however, repeated repair work had little success. The Bernhof community built a new chapel in the center of the village between 1997 and 2000.
