Location of Boxmühle in Bavaria

Boxmühle, Lampenricht (2012)

Boxmühle is a district of the municipality of Gleiritsch .

geography

The box mill is located in the Upper Palatinate North region in the northeastern part of the Schwandorf district on the SAD 35 district road. The village of Lampenricht is about one hundred meters away. The Boxmühle farm belongs to the Gleiritsch community . The Neumühle, Schnegelmühle and Boxmühle are located on the Mühlbach. The Mühlbach flows west of Lampenricht into the Gleiritsch brook, which rises near Zeinried . Immediately after the confluence of the two streams there used to be a sawmill , a mill and a “cutting saw”.

history

For centuries, the water power of the Mühlbach served as the driving force for the box mill. Due to changing agriculture and the emergence of large, commercial milling companies, the mill stopped operating around 1965 and the mill wheel was removed.

The land consolidation in the municipality of Gleiritsch, which began in 1969, required large amounts of filler material. Some of this material was excavated on the site of the box mill. A new pond, which is fed by the Mühlbach, was created. At the same time, a turbine was installed to generate electricity, which is operated with the water from the newly created pond.

Today there is a smaller sawmill on the site of the Boxmühle that works without water power.

Tax District and Parish Education

The Kingdom of Bavaria was divided into 15 districts in 1808. These districts were named after rivers based on the French model ( Naabkreis , Regenkreis , Unterdonaukreis , etc.). The districts were divided into district courts. The districts in turn should be divided into individual municipality areas. In 1830 the regional authorities were reorganized and reorganized. The Boxmühle, Heilinghäusl and Zieglhäuser were added to the existing community of Bernhof . The cabbage mill was attached to the community of Gleiritsch.

Dissolution of the Bernhof community

After the end of World War II , the American military government wanted a partial reorganization of the municipalities. The American occupiers ordered the dissolution of smaller communities. Bernhof was also among them. In 1946 the independent municipality of Bernhof was dissolved. The village of Bernhof, the Boxmühle, the hamlets of Heilinghäusl and Zieglhäuser were incorporated into the existing municipality of Gleiritsch . Oberpierlhof, which also belonged to the municipality of Bernhof, came to the municipality of Trausnitz .
