Kroau (1960)

Kroau is a hamlet with three properties. It is located on the community road from Gleiritsch to Stöcklhof .

geography

The hamlet of Kroau is located in the Upper Palatinate North region in the northeastern part of the Schwandorf district in the municipality of Gleiritsch . The settlement is located on the Kroaubach , a small watercourse that flows into the Gleiritsch brook near Bernhof .

history

The water power of the Kroau stream, which rises near Trichenricht, was used to operate the mill in the Kroau. Since the small watercourse was not sufficient to drive the mill wheel, a mill pond was artificially created. This ensured an even supply of water to operate the mill. The grain delivered by the farmers was ground and then delivered to the baker in an exchange process. The flour supplier received the equivalent of his flour in the form of bread. The grinding operation was discontinued in 1970, as larger operations displaced the uneconomical smaller mills.

Tax District and Parish Education

The Kingdom of Bavaria was divided into 15 districts in 1808. These districts were named after rivers based on the French model ( Naabkreis , Regenkreis , Unterdonaukreis , etc.). The districts were divided into district courts. The districts in turn should be divided into individual municipality areas. As part of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , the municipality of Gleiritsch, to which Kroau belonged, was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

Bathing pond

As part of the land consolidation, the so-called bathing pond was created near Kroau in 1974. It is a natural pool. In 1986 it was redesigned by dividing it into a swimming pond and a pre-pond. Clubs and groups use the idyllic location for camping in summer. A Germany-wide beetle meeting took place several times on the site near Kroau. Cross races as part of the Oberpfälzer Runner Cup are held here regularly.
