The coat of arms of the district of Oberviechtach was the official emblem of the district of Oberviechtach until its dissolution on July 1, 1972 . In a red shield it shows a silver bar opposite the branch .
history
The coat of arms continues that of the Murach rule, from whose territory the district consisted predominantly. The Counts of Sulzbach were followed in 1188 by the Spanish Counts of Ortenburg as owners of the lordship, who named themselves after Murach since the middle of the 13th century .
While the Palatine line of the House of Ortenburg carried the panther as a symbol, the coat of arms of the other line has shown the opposite bar since around 1238. In the coat of arms of the Ortenburg-Tambach dynasty , it takes the form of an inclined interchangeable bar.
