Surname
etymology
The name is made up of the Middle High German word brat , which means roast or meat and the Old High German selde for house . Roast pelder therefore means roughly the same as place where travelers can dine; about a hostel . The addition of village and the words Alten , Unter and Nieder , which were used from time to time, were added to distinguish between urban and long- distance processes.

history
Until the church is planted
In a chronical record from the 14th century it is mentioned that the Archbishop of Mainz Willigis consecrated a church in "Brotselden" in 1009.
According to the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss 1803, the place in the archbishopric of Mainz became part of the newly formed principality of Aschaffenburg of the prince of Dalberg , with which (now a department of the Grand Duchy of Frankfurt ) it finally fell to Bavaria in 1814 . In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria, today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .
Administrative history
In 1862 the district office of Marktheidenfeld was established, on whose administrative area Dorfprozelten was located. In 1939, as everywhere in the German Reich, the designation district was introduced. Dorfprozelten was now one of the 47 communities in the Marktheidenfeld district . With the dissolution of the district of Marktheidenfeld, Dorfprozelten came to the newly formed district of Miltenberg on July 1, 1972 .
In 1978 the community joined the newly founded administrative association Stadtprozelten . On January 1, 1994, Dorfprozelten was released from this again.
20th and 21st centuries
The place housed a large sandstone industry until the 1970s. Steinhauer from Dorfprozelten were involved in the construction of the Winter Palace in Saint Petersburg , the Mainz Cathedral , the Reichstag in Berlin and many other important buildings. The quarrying of the sandstone also promoted shipping, which made Dorfprozelten the largest inland shipping village in Germany for some time. Today, Dorfprozelten is home to various branches of industry. Among other things, a large automotive supplier settled here . The “Dorfprozeltener Predigtstuhl”, an excellent Franconian wine, is also grown on the slopes of the Main .
