history

Fechenbach was first mentioned in a document in 1214. The landlords of the place were probably the barons of Vechimbach , whose castle stood north of Fechenbach on the Fechenberg until 1315.

In 1862 the district office of Marktheidenfeld was formed, on whose administrative area Fechenbach was located. On April 1, 1931, however, Fechenbach came to the Miltenberg District Office on the occasion of the reform of the layout of the Bavarian district offices . As everywhere in the German Reich , the term district was introduced in 1939. Fechenbach was now one of the 31 communities in the old district of Miltenberg . On April 1, 1971, the communities of Fechenbach and Reistenhausen (with the village of Kirschfurt ) merged to form the community of Collenberg. The old district of Miltenberg merged with the district of Obernburg am Main on July 1, 1972 to form the new district of Miltenberg .

Oddities

The Fechenbachers are the "relay shit". Many houses in the village had a mezzanine floor to which a staircase (relay) led up. By many Main flood the streets and backyards were often flooded in Altort and you could not come to the house in the yard. Therefore, one relieved himself from the relay. They were also called "water asses" because they held the very best above the water.

Sons and daughter of the district

  • Karl Heilmann (1900–1951), local politician, Lord Mayor of Weiden
