history

Kirschfurt originated in the 14th century where the St. Michaelskirche once stood. In 1479 the village burned down completely and the residents were relocated to Freudenberg. During this time, the former village church fell into ruins . A single courtyard in Kirschfurt was not built again until 1680. In 1803 there were already four courtyards that quickly grew together structurally. The new Kirschfurt became a district of Reistenhausen.

In 1862 the district office of Marktheidenfeld was formed, on whose administrative area Kirschfurt was located. On April 1, 1931, however, Kirschfurt came to the Miltenberg District Office on the occasion of the reform of the layout of the Bavarian district offices . As everywhere in the German Reich , the term district was introduced in 1939. Kirschfurt was now part of the old Miltenberg district . On April 1, 1971, the communities Fechenbach and Reistenhausen (with Kirschfurt) merged to form the community of Collenberg. The old district of Miltenberg merged with the district of Obernburg am Main on July 1, 1972 to form the new district of Miltenberg .
