Karl Heilmann (politician)

Karl Heilmann (* 1900 in Fechenbach ; † April 17, 1951 in Weiden idOPf. ) Was a German local politician ( CSU ).

Act

Heilmann was a trained stonemason , then until 1937 tenant of the inn in the Josefshaus in Weiden.

After the city council election in 1946 he took over the chairmanship of his party in the Weiden city council. From July 1st, 1948 until his untimely death he was Lord Mayor of Weiden. Under the impression of the refugee situation in the post-war years, he promoted housing construction. On the initiative of the parish priest Karl Käß, he approved the use of a barrack in Fichtenbühl as an emergency church in 1949 . On November 17, 1949 he signed the resolution to found a special needs school , today's Stötznerschule .

Honors

The road ring around a residential complex built during his time in office bears the name Karl-Heilmann-Block today .
