Kurt Seggewiß (born October 14, 1957 in Bocholt , Westphalia) is a German local politician ( SPD ).

Career

Seggewiss grew up in Weiden idOPf. on. He began as a junior employee at what was then the Federal Employment Agency (now the Federal Employment Agency ) and studied at the Federal University of Applied Sciences (Labor Administration Department). He is a graduate in administration and held a leading position at the Federal Agency for many years, most recently in Halle, Nuremberg and Schwandorf. He participated in the development of funding programs for the federal states and designed youth support programs such as “Fit for work” in Bavaria. In Schwandorf he was division manager for the use of labor market policy instruments.

During the conflict over the Wackersdorf reprocessing plant , he joined the SPD. On July 29, 2007, he sat in the runoff election for the office of Lord Mayor of Weiden idOPf. with 58.37 percent of the votes against the CSU applicant Lothar Höher. In the local elections on March 16, 2014, he was re-elected with 52.5 percent. On March 29, 2020, Jens Meyer (SPD) was elected as his successor as Lord Mayor.
