Marienbrunn (until 1828 Mergenbrunn) is a district of the town of Marktheidenfeld in the Main-Spessart district in Bavaria . The place has a total of 362 inhabitants.
history
Marienbrunn was first mentioned in a document in 1251. In 1690 the village had 65 inhabitants. A chapel was built in 1708 .
On August 30, 1828, at the request of the local government, the Bavarian King changed the name of the village from the form Mergenbrunn, which had been in use for many centuries, to the (allegedly) original name Marienbrunn.
In 1862 the district office of Marktheidenfeld was formed, on whose administrative area Marienbrunn was located.
In 1939, as everywhere in the German Reich, the designation district was introduced. Marienbrunn was now one of the 47 municipalities in the Marktheidenfeld district (license plate MAR ).
With the dissolution of the Marktheidenfeld district in 1972, Marienbrunn became part of the newly formed Main-Spessart district (license plate at that time KAR , now MSP ). On January 1, 1975, Marienbrunn was incorporated into the town of Marktheidenfeld as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
coat of arms
The speaking coat of arms shows Mary with the baby Jesus on the left and a fountain above an oak leaf on the right half of the coat of arms. The oak leaf with acorn symbolizes the location in the Spessart. The colors silver and blue symbolize belonging to Bavaria, the colors silver and red to belonging to Franconia or the former Hochstift Würzburg.
