etymology

Karsbach takes its name from the stream of the same name, Karsbach (today Kuhbach ), which flows into the Wern near Gössenheim .

history

19th to 21st century

In the course of secularization in 1803, the rights of the Würzburg bishopric and those of the Juliusspital fell to Bavaria, which they ceded to the newly formed Grand Duchy of Würzburg in the Peace of Pressburg in 1805 . In 1814 they reverted to Bavaria with this . In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria, today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

The Jewish families living in the district of Heßdorf built their synagogue at Fußgasse 6 , which was destroyed in the November pogrom in 1938 . A memorial plaque at the Höllricherstrasse / Brunnengasse municipal office commemorates this event.

The US tank raid after Hammelburg in 1945 came to a bloody end in the Höllrich district .

In 2005 Weyersfeld won the competition Our village should be more beautiful - our village has chosen the most beautiful village in the Main-Spessart district of the future .

Karsbach is the seat of the Catholic parish St. Gertrud with a branch of St. Albanus in Weyersfeld and belongs to the Karlstadt dean's office of the Würzburg diocese . Evangelical parishes and churches are located in Heßdorf and Höllrich. They are assigned to the Lohr deanery of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria .

Incorporations

On May 1, 1978, the formerly independent communities Weyersfeld, Höllrich and Heßdorf were incorporated.

In the period from 1988 to 2018, the population increased from 1,497 to 1,723 by 226 residents or 15.1%.

Martin Göbel (Free Citizen Karsbach) has been the mayor since May 1, 1996. He was elected for another six years on March 15, 2020 with 88.6% of the vote.

Municipal council

Based on the result of the election on March 15, 2020 , the municipal council from May 2020 to April 2026 is composed as follows:

  • Free Citizens Karsbach : 6 seats (45.25%)
  • Village community Karsbach: 4 seats (36.74%)
  • Independent citizens: 2 seats (18.01%)

The turnout was 72.59%.

The description of the coat of arms, introduced in 1968, reads: "A golden imperial crown set with red stones, which is accompanied by two silver flax blossoms at the top, is floating in green over a lowered silver wave bar".

Buildings

  • Evangelical parish church in Heßdorf (consecrated in 1744) with largely original baroque organ
  • Former moated castle in Höllrich (built around 1560, today partly in ruins); the valuable Renaissance inventory was in 1883 by the Thüngen'sche Rentamt Zeitlofs to the Museum of Decorative Arts Berlin sold

In 2017 there were 79 jobs subject to social security contributions in the municipality. Of the resident population, 767 people were in employment subject to compulsory insurance. This means that the number of out-commuters was 688 more than that of in-commuters. 14 residents were unemployed. In 2016 there were 34 farms.

The federal road 27 runs through the municipality ; it leads past the main town as a bypass immediately to the west.

education

There is a day-care center for children in the municipality with 70 approved places and 61 children (as of March 1, 2018).
