history

The club was founded in 1949 as a football club. The choice of costume was interesting. This was completely black with a yellow coat of arms. Due to the risk of confusion with the referees, who at that time only appeared in black, this color scheme was banned by the association. The colors are said to have come about because the Meiendorfer were called "swatte Meiendbody" by the other hamburgers. It is not known whether this was due to the election results in traditional red Hamburg. They then agreed on a yellow costume with black coats of arms. In the 1960s, the future German master coach ( 1. FC Cologne ) Georg Knöpfle was at Meiendorfer SV. At the beginning of the 70s he returned to the coaching job at MSV.

The first decades of the Meiendorfer SV played in the lower divisions. It was not until 1983 that they were promoted to the association league for the first time, the highest division in Hamburg. In 1995 promotion to the Oberliga Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein was achieved, but the class could not be held and in 1999 it even went back to the state league. After returning to the association league in 2001, the Meiendorfer managed to march straight through to the top division.

There you finished sixth as a climber. A year later, fourth place jumped out. It qualified for the new single-track league. But in the 2005/06 season only the 17th place could be achieved, so that the relegation to the Hamburg League followed. In the following three seasons they were runner-up behind the series champions SC Victoria Hamburg . From 2009 to 2015 they held themselves in the gray mediocrity of the Hamburg football league , before relegation to the Hamburg regional football league followed in the 2015/2016 season when they were sixteenth in the table .

There was a complete upheaval and with a completely new team they finished fifth in the first season after relegation. In 2018 he was promoted back to the league.
