Tamami Tanaka

Tamami Tanaka ( Japanese 田中 珠 美 , Tanaka Tamami ; born May 26, 1975 in Yamada , Toyama Prefecture ) is a Japanese biathlete .

Tamami Tanaka, in Sapporo coaching and Hokkaido living Sport soldier of the Japanese army launches for the "winter combat training unit" . In 1994 she started biathlon. Two years later she made her debut in the Biathlon World Cup in Östersund as 83rd in the sprint . In Oberhof , the Japanese won World Cup points for the first time in sprint tenth. In 1999 Tanaka also took part in the biathlon world championships for the first time in Kontiolahti . She finished 45th in the sprint and tenth place in the relay. The next two seasons were Tanakas most successful. At theHolmenkollen in Oslo , the athlete achieved her best World Cup and World Cup placement in fourth place in the individual and narrowly missed a medal behind Magdalena Forsberg . In Lahti she was with the season (with Mami Shindo , Hiromi Suga and Ryoko Takahashi ) in the following season fourth. In Antholz she was also able to repeat her best result in the World Cup, fourth place, in a sprint.

In the seven seasons 1998/99 and 2004/05 Tanaka always won World Cup points. The best place in the overall World Cup was 40th in 2002/03 , and 41st in 1999/2000 and 2000/01 . She competed twice, in 2002 and 2006 at the Winter Olympics . Especially in Salt Lake City in 2002 she was able to show decent placements. She finished 29th in the sprint and 23rd in the pursuit. 2006 in Turin was a 32nd place in the individual best placement.
