Horst Eylmann

Horst Eylmann (born December 1, 1933 in Altendorf ; † February 13, 2014 in Stade ) was a German politician ( CDU ) and from 1992 to 1998 chairman of the legal committee of the German Bundestag .

Life and work

After graduating from high school at the Athenaeum Stade in 1955, Eylmann began studying economics and psychology , which he did not complete. He then studied law in Hamburg and Munich . In 1959 Eylmann passed the first state examination in law . After completing his legal clerkship , he also passed the second state examination in 1963 and was admitted to the Stade bar. From 1968 to 2003 he was also a notary there . He is also the co-author of a commentary on the Federal Notary Code, various lawyers' manuals and the Chronicle of Merchants and Skippers on the history of the Stade Merchants and Skippers Brotherhood. Eylmann was a member of the supervisory board of Volksbank Stade from 1987 to 2000 . In 2003 he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Stade.

Horst Eylmann was married.

Political party

Eylmann joined the CDU in 1968. For the state elections in Lower Saxony in 1994 , he was a possible Minister of Justice in the shadow cabinet of the CDU's top candidate Christian Wulff .

MP

From 1972 he was a member of both the Stade City Council (until 2001) and the District Council of the Stade District (until 1996). From 1981 to 1986 and from 1989 to 1991 he was mayor of the city of Stade. From 1983 to 1998 he was a member of the German Bundestag and from 1990 to 1992 initially deputy chairman of the committee for electoral review, immunity and rules of procedure and from 1991 to 1992 chairman of the investigative committeeCommercial Coordination and Alexander Schalck-Golodkowski ”. He was then chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee from 1992 to 1998. Horst Eylmann was always elected to the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the constituency of Stade or, from 1987, of the constituency of Stade - Rotenburg I.

In 2003 he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Stade as well as the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Royal Swedish North Star Order for his services to local politics as well as his advocacy for the international town twinning of Stade with Givat Schmuel in Israel and Karlshamn in Sweden awarded.
