Alexandra Surer , also Alex Surer (born December 1, 1969 in San Rafael , California ) is a Swiss actress and author .

Life

She grew up in Vancouver (Canada) and Zurich and appeared for the first time at the age of ten in the context of the children's and youth theater Rosemarie Metzenthin . After completing her Matura in 1989 in Zurich, she attended the Zurich University of Music and Theater between 1989 and 1992 , where she obtained her degree in acting in 1992.

She shot the Swiss feature film Tschäss under the direction of Daniel Helfer. Her first engagement took place in 1992 in the small theater "Die Färbe" in Singen , where she made her debut under the direction of Gilles Tschudi as "The Girl" in Roberto Zucco, followed by two years at the Alten Schauspielhaus Stuttgart, where she appeared next to Antje Hagen in Biberfurz, as well as Hans Korte's daughter in "Der Vater" von Strindberg.

In 1995 she left Germany for the first time for New York, where she studied under Uta Hagen at the HB Studio. Back in Germany she appeared in 'Baader Remix' as Gudrun Ensslin at the Theater am Turm in Frankfurt. After moving to Berlin, she was engaged for two years at the Thalia Theater Halle , where she discovered her passion for theater for children and young people.

In 1998 she appeared for one season in the Team Theater Munich and at the Metropol Theater under the direction of Jochen Schölch as Salome and Desdemona. Together they developed the world premiere Shake The Speare, a journey through the worlds of Shakespeare. She can be seen as call girl Lara in episodes 970–993 at Marienhof .

From 2002 to 2009 Alexandra was a permanent member of the Shakespeare Company Berlin . In 2003 she founded Shakespeare Kids Berlin .

In 2005 she wrote the play The Winter Night's Dream , which was premiered under the direction of Christian Leonard in the Shake tent at Ostbahnhof. In 2010 she gave her final German performance as Katharina in The Taming of the Shrew, directed by Tom Ryser, at the Shakespeare Festival in Neuss .

Surer has lived and worked in Hollywood since 2009 . Her sister lives in Zurich as editor of the Zürichsee-Zeitung and founder of the puppet theater Gustavs Schwestern.
