Amedeo Tommasi

Amedeo Tommasi (born December 1, 1935 in Trieste ) is an Italian pianist and composer specializing in modern jazz , electronic music and film music .

Live and act

Tommasi began his career as a jazz trombonist in the Dixieland formation Panigal Jazz Band in Bologna . He became known in Italy in 1960 through the radio show La coppa di jazz , after he had switched to piano and stylistically to modern jazz ; In 1961 he performed at various jazz festivals such as the Sanremo Festival and received first prize at the Bled Festival in Yugoslavia. In the following years recordings were made with Chet Baker ( Chet is Back ), René Thomas / Bobby Jaspar , Buddy Collette , Conte Candoli and Jacques Pelzer . From the beginning of the 1970s he became increasingly active as a film composer and worked a. a. for Gianfranco Baldanello , Guido Leoni , Pupi Avati , Dario Argento , Mino Guerrini and Fabrizio Costa ; He worked as musical advisor for Giuseppe Tornatore's film The Legend of the Ocean Pianist (1999), in which he had a cameo as a pianist. He also presented a number of electronic music albums. Tommasi also appeared under the pseudonyms Amedeo Forte and Di Jarrell . In 2010 he worked on the documentary Pupi Avati, ieri oggi domani by Claudio Costa.
