His Winchester whistles the song of death (original title: I lunghi giorni dell'odio ) is a spaghetti western from 1968, staged by Gianfranco Baldanello with Guy Madison in the lead role. It was only five years later, on July 20, 1973, that it was shown for the first time in cinemas in German-speaking countries.

The excellent marksman Martin Benson has built a certain reputation for himself due to an unclean past, but is currently helping the American army in an attempt to uncover a gang of arms dealers who supply the Indians with equipment. He has already caught some of the members, but is still on the trail of the financially strong man behind. When Benson's work in the area became known, his family felt it: his ranch was attacked, his parents were killed, his sister Jenny was raped; his other two siblings, Susy and Daniel, have to seek shelter in a cave to avoid death. The seriously injured attacker Tony Guy has Martin nursed back to health as he hopes for clues to his accomplices. Meanwhile, Susy has to fight off undesirable advances from businessman Vic Graham. Martin then gets into a shooting deal with the arms dealers, who in turn do everything in their power to eliminate him. Then Tony Guy reveals the man behind the whole thing. Then Benson settles up with Graham.
criticism
While the lexicon of international films only found it to be a "spaghetti western with the usual brutalities", Christian Keßler went into more detail about this "quite decent copy of the genre Revenge western". The choice of Madison as the main actor is good, the supporting characters are well cast; he sums up that the film offers “entertaining surprises”.
Remarks
You can hear the film song Life by debutant Amedeo Tommasi, whose only western music this film was to remain. The box-office result in Italy was well below average 54 million lire .
