Attilio Dottesio (born July 16, 1909 in Desenzano del Garda , † February 12, 1989 in Rome ) was an Italian actor who appeared in nearly 200 films over a period of five decades.

Life

After finishing high school, Dottesio began a career in show business in France, where he was engaged as a singer and gained regional fame. A first film appearance under Sacha Guitry also took place at this time. After returning to his homeland, he attended the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (graduated in 1942) and has been seen in numerous (mostly supporting) roles in all genres since his first (of almost 200 in total) film in 1940 ; for many of the films from the 1960s onwards he was also active on the production staff. The mostly bearded actor, already graying in his middle years, appeared particularly frequently, namely almost 40 times, in spaghetti westerns ; often under pseudonyms such as Dean Reese , William Burke or Arthur Dotte . A separate documentary from 1955 remained unpublished.
