Shango last fight (Original title: Shango, la pistola infallibile ) is a spaghetti western from 1970. The German premiere took place on a private channel on 13 September 2005; the film is now available unabridged on DVD.
action
The Ranger Shango, which is to ensure a peaceful withdrawal of troops is a prisoner of the former Confederate - Major Droster and a Mexican bandit, Martinez. These two tyrannize a village of poor Mexican farmers. When Shango found freedom again more by chance than on purpose, he found shelter with one of these farmers, Fernández, and was asked for help against the oppressors. Shango succeeds in eliminating the bandits who are looking for him all over the village, man by man, until Martínez decides to threaten the wives of the Mexicans with death if the ranger is not handed over to him.
When he was extradited, Shango managed to shoot Martínez and his remaining men with a hidden rifle. Major Droster, who so far has also provided some men, is now giving up and leaving the city with his people. However, he returns unexpectedly and catches Shango unarmed and unprepared. Only with the help of the women of the peons can Shango get hold of a rifle and shoot the major and his assistants.
criticism
This is a “typical spaghetti western, which aligns its flimsy plot entirely with the image of the main actor at the time”, writes the lexicon of the international film with little enthusiasm. The Segnalazioni Cinematografiche also hit the same line, because the film "repeats constant battles and shootouts that always end with the victory of the protagonist without him developing any narrative".
Remarks
Leading actor Steffen ("never a particularly nuanced actor") wrote the script himself.
The film's soundtrack was released on LP (Cinevox MDF 33-39) and later on CD.
