Sartana - In the Shadow of Death (original title: Passa Sartana ... è l'ombra della tua morte ) is a spaghetti westerns of demofilo fidani which this 1968 staged. The censorship stamp of the Archivio del Cinema Italiano is dated February 4, 1969; the German-language premiere took place on January 21, 2000 on a private broadcaster.

Silver City is terrorized and harassed by the Randall Brothers and their criminal henchmen. Since the old sheriff is unable to do anything about it, his deputy suggests hiring the well-known bounty hunter Sartana. While there is also $ 12,000 on his head, he is a man of honor who acts for the benefit of the innocent. Sartana accepts for the withdrawal of the profile against him and turns off the gangsters one by one.

criticism

At the late premiere in Germany, the lexicon of international films described the work as a "dusty" copy of the "usual cut". Genre connoisseur Christian Keßler considers this Fidani western to be one of the director's weakest, which is primarily due to a “uniquely incoherent script” that shows “eternally new skirmishes without reference to one another”, only to lead actor Cameron “as often as possible fighting and being cool -to-film-riding-through-the-desert ”. The Italian critics also saw a "below average craftsmanship" work.

Remarks

The pseudonym Sean O'Neal actually belongs to Giovanni Simonelli ; Fidani's directorial activity is completely beyond doubt.

The box-office result in Italy was 134.8 million lire with only regional use .
