content
Macho Callagan, an army lieutenant, is sent to a small town as a secret agent to bring down the bandit horde of Butch Cassidy and Ironhead Donovan. He is accepted into the gang, pretending to be wanted. When the two bosses fall out, they split the gang and move on separately. Macho who stays with Ironhead can persuade him to attack his ex-partner. In the resulting fight, the bandits decimate themselves considerably. Ironhead tries to escape with the gang's money, but is eventually shot by macho.
background
This Fidani was also shot to a large extent on the small film site of Gordon Mitchell , the so-called Cave Studios . In the grand finale you can see all of these scenes. The film opened in Italy in April 1971.
Fidani shot this film parallel to For a Coffin Full of Dollars , with which this film is often confused because of its alternative title. In addition to the scenery, the director also used a large part of the actors for both films.
This film became legendary because of an apple scene with Klaus Kinski . Genre connoisseur Christian Keßler describes this scene as follows:
“He bites into an apple, suddenly has half the fruit in his mouth and looks puzzled. Any normal person would reach for their mouth here to manually regulate the damage. He does not. with wild contortions of his elastic chin he tries his best and almost grins at the attempt! Golden moments ... "
criticism
“This is also not a film for a poetry album! A below-average Fidani, whose script is a motley mixed up affair, which not even individual capers ensure any particular entertainment value. "
"Extremely below average Trashwestern by Demofilo Fidani."
Remarks
The film was released again in Italy in 1972 under the title Doppia taglia per Minnesota Stinky and slightly recut.
