He sowed death (original title: Seminò la morte… lo chiamavano “Il Castigo di Dio” ) is a spaghetti western from the late phase of the genre . The film, staged inexpensively by Roberto Mauri under a pseudonym , was released as a video premiere in German-speaking countries.

action

Django, a former federal sheriff, is arrested for allegedly stealing a chest full of dollars used to build a school and church in Silver City. In prison he meets “Spirito Santo”, a Mexican who is making his raids in favor of the revolution. Both can break out with the help of a mysterious third party; that third is Scott Miller, who has a finger on everything that goes on in town.
After his release, Django searches for the henchmen and the man behind a robbery triple murder of his brother and his family - initially in vain and is even suspected of murdering a sheriff; Spirito Santo allies with Scott to steal from him, but, convicted by the sheriff, has to return the loot to the residents of Silver City. Finally Django finds the mastermind behind the bandits: it's Scott. Django can defeat the gang and finally himself with the help of his ex-cellmate in a duel.

criticism

Segnalazioni Cinematografiche didn't leave the film badly: “It's all imitation, poor in ideas and poor in terms of technology and performance. The characters and the sequence of scenes obey a tradition of superficiality, which, however, is committed to basic ethical values. Considering the harshness and motivation of the character, the role name “Spirito Santo” is at least disrespectful. “.

"Fader infusion of the Django series."

“The film does not provide deep insights into human nature (...); more like insights into the working method of the director Mauri, who reused many scenes from Wanted Sabata (...). So it happens, for example, that Giovanni Cianfriglia is allowed to die twice, in two different roles! (...) The film is pretty boring and of the kind where you are always afraid that the sets will fall over and the actors will bury themselves. "

Remarks

Like many cheaply produced films, He Sowed Death only came through regional distributors in Italy.
